The short version
- Analysts at Alinea Analytics estimate Helldivers 2 has sold over 23 million copies, worth about $786.3 million (roughly ₹7,500 crore).
- They put Stellar Blade at 5.4 million copies and about $316.9 million, not counting the new Switch 2 version.
- These are third-party estimates, shared on November 6. Sony, Arrowhead and Shift Up haven't confirmed them.
- On Steam in India, Helldivers 2 costs ₹2,499 ($39.99) and Stellar Blade ₹4,799 ($59.99).
Where the numbers come from
Both figures were posted on X on November 6 by Rhys Elliott, an analyst at Alinea Analytics, a firm that estimates game sales from store data and player tracking. Several news sites reported them as sales totals. They're Alinea's estimates, not publisher announcements, so treat them as a well-informed guess rather than an official count.
Sony's last official Helldivers 2 number came on August 12, when it announced the game was joining the PS Plus Game Catalog. It said that, as of August 9, Helldivers 2 had welcomed more than 22.9 million players across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Players and copies aren't the same thing: players can include people trying the game through a subscription. But the two figures are in the same range.
Helldivers 2: a Steam game as much as a PlayStation one
According to Alinea's breakdown, 66.1% of Helldivers 2 copies were sold on Steam, 25.7% on PS5 and 8.3% on Xbox, where it arrived in August 2025.

That split says a lot about where Sony's growth is coming from. Helldivers 2 launched on PS5 and PC on February 8, 2024, and PC players quickly became the bigger group. Alinea also estimates that 4 million players have spent more than 100 hours in the game, and 462,000 more than 500 hours. For a live service game, that kind of long-term play is what keeps the money coming in.
The game is also heading beyond consoles. Sony's August release said a Helldivers film is scheduled for cinemas on November 10, 2027.
Stellar Blade: half PC, and big in Asia
Shift Up's action game launched as a PS5 exclusive on April 26, 2024, and came to PC on June 11, 2025. Alinea estimates its copies are now almost evenly split: 50.4% PS5 and 49.6% Steam. By revenue, PS5 is ahead at 59.7%, likely because more PS5 copies were sold at full price.

The most striking figure is regional: Alinea says 41% of Stellar Blade's sales came from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Those markets are often underestimated by Western publishers, and Stellar Blade's PC launch, which didn't require a PlayStation Network account, made it easy to buy there.
The 5.4 million estimate excludes the Switch 2 version, which launched this week. Xbox is now the only major platform without the game.
What it costs in India
| Game | Steam India | Steam US | Platforms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helldivers 2 | ₹2,499 | $39.99 | PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S |
| Stellar Blade | ₹4,799 | $59.99 | PS5, PC, Switch 2 |
Steam prices are from SteamDB's tracker. Helldivers 2 is also in the PS Plus Game Catalog, available on the Extra and Premium tiers, so PS5 players with those plans can try it without buying it. Our explainer on why Helldivers 2 shrank from 154GB to 23GB covers its PC install size.
Why it matters
On paper, both games show the same thing: Sony's PC releases aren't a side project anymore. Most Helldivers 2 copies and nearly half of Stellar Blade's were sold on Steam. That backs Sony's recent comments that games are making more money than consoles, which we covered in our post on Sony's latest results.
Watch for Sony's next official figure. If it confirms anything close to 23 million, Helldivers 2 would rank among PlayStation's best-selling games ever, and it got there with most of its sales on someone else's store.
