The short version
- Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a free-to-play mobile arena shooter from Sony and French studio Oh BiBi, has been cancelled. The announcement went out on November 6.
- It disappears from the App Store and Google Play on November 21, and the servers shut down on May 1, 2027. All player data will be wiped.
- In-app purchases are already switched off. Refunds go through Apple or Google, not Sony.
- The game was only ever soft-launched in a few countries. It never came to India, so Indian players lose nothing here.
What was announced
The news came in a short update on the game's official website, dated November 6. The team said it had made "the difficult decision to cease development". No reason was given.
The game's final update rolled out the same day. From there, the shutdown runs on three dates:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| November 6, 2026 | Final update; in-app purchases removed |
| November 21, 2026 | Removed from the App Store and Google Play; no new downloads |
| May 1, 2027 | Servers shut down; the game stops working and all data is deleted |
If you already have it installed, you can keep playing until May 1. You can also reinstall it until November 21. Gematsu's headline gave May 21 as the server date, but the official update and Gematsu's own article both say May 1.
What happens to your purchases
The official FAQ is clear that nothing carries over. Progress and items can't be moved to another game, and everything is wiped when the servers close.
In the meantime, Sony and Oh BiBi have made a few things free. The premium Super Pass is now unlocked for everyone, and the current Qwark Pass seasons run until the end. Any unspent in-game currency can still be used until May 1. Players who logged in after the November 7 update also got their pre-registration rewards.
For money already spent, refunds are handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play, under their usual rules. The statement doesn't offer a separate refund from Sony.

How far the game got
Ranger Rumble was announced on November 12, 2025 for iOS and Android. It was a fast, third-person multiplayer arena shooter starring Ratchet, Clank and other characters from Insomniac's series, with Insomniac's logo alongside PlayStation Studios on the official site. The actual development was by Oh BiBi, the studio behind the mobile shooter BEAST.
Like most big mobile games, it went through a long soft launch, a limited release in a few countries to test servers and spending before a worldwide launch. According to Gematsu, it opened in:
- The Philippines and Indonesia in November 2025.
- Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark in December 2025.
- Canada in May 2026.
- The UK in August 2026.
It never got past that stage. A soft launch that lasts a year and only adds a few countries usually means the numbers aren't where the publisher wants them, though Sony hasn't said that.

What it means for Ratchet & Clank fans
The update says the decision "has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services". The main series is unaffected. Insomniac's last Ratchet & Clank game, Rift Apart, came out in 2021 for PS5 and on PC in 2023.
For Sony, it's another live service game that didn't make it to a full launch. On paper, Sony's money is increasingly coming from its biggest games, like Helldivers 2's estimated 23 million copies, rather than from new mobile spin-offs. If you'd like to understand how game shutdowns work, our guide on delisted games versus server shutdowns explains the difference.
If you're one of the players in the soft-launch countries, use any leftover currency before May 1, 2027, and check your App Store or Google Play purchase history if you want to ask for a refund.
