The short version
- Kojima Productions released the first teaser trailer for Death Stranding Isolations on October 29, 2026. It's an animated series, not a game.
- It streams exclusively on Disney+ in 2027. There's no exact date or episode count yet, and no confirmed India release, though Disney+ shows here normally stream on JioHotstar.
- The story is new. It's set in North America right after Sam Bridges reconnects the continent in the first game, and follows a new cast.
- Takayuki Sano directs, Hideo Kojima is executive producer, Ilya Kuvshinov designed the characters, and novelist Tow Ubukata is reported to be writing.
What was shown
The teaser came with the first proper look at the series since it was announced in November 2025 at Disney's Originals Preview event in Hong Kong, where Kojima appeared on stage. Gematsu ran the trailer in English and Japanese versions, with a striking line pulled out alongside the new key art: "My mom became a crater."
That line fits the world. In Death Stranding, the dead and the living colliding cause huge explosions called voidouts, and they leave craters where towns used to be.

The story and characters
The 2025 announcement placed the series "somewhere in North America" while Sam crosses the country. The new details narrow that down: it begins just after Sam links the continent with the Chiral Network, the game's version of a super-fast internet. Reconnecting everyone turns out to have consequences nobody expected.
According to Gematsu, Isolations tells a story separate from the games, so you don't need to have played them. The cast announced so far:
- An old man who connects people in a different way from Bridges, the organisation Sam works for.
- A female soldier stuck in an endless cycle of war.
- A boy furious at how absurd his life is.
- A girl who chose to cut her ties to others, and is pulled back in by fate.
Gematsu's summary says a young man and woman set out on an adventure, which suggests the boy and girl lead the story. That's our reading, not a confirmed plot.
Who's making it

The animation studio is E&H production, a young Japanese studio that worked on Netflix's Ninja Kamui, Disney's Bullet/Bullet and the new Magic Knight Rayearth series. The series is drawn in traditional hand-drawn 2D.
Ilya Kuvshinov is the biggest name for anime fans. He was character designer on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, and his concept art was the first thing shown in 2025. Tow Ubukata wrote the award-winning sci-fi novel Mardock Scramble and has a long anime résumé. His screenplay credit comes from Gematsu's report on the new details. It isn't on Kojima Productions' own 2025 credits list yet.
Director Takayuki Sano said he feels a strong sense of duty and responsibility taking on a Kojima world, and wants the series to live up to what Kojima's games have done for players.
Death Stranding beyond games

Isolations is one of two screen projects. The other is Death Stranding: Mosquito, an animated film announced in September 2025, written by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) with ABC Animation's Hiroshi Miyamoto directing. Kojima Productions says the first game has passed 20 million players since 2019. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launched on PS5 on June 26, 2025.
What's still unknown
- The exact 2027 premiere date and how many episodes there are.
- The voice cast, in Japanese or English.
- Whether "Isolations" is the final title. It was a working title in 2025.
- India timing. Disney+ originals usually land on JioHotstar here, but nobody has confirmed this one.
The next thing to watch for is a full trailer with a date, most likely at a Disney+ showcase. Until then, the teaser is on Kojima Productions' channels in English and Japanese.
