Grand Theft Auto VI is finally close. After two delays, Rockstar Games has locked in November 19, 2026 as the launch date, pre-orders have been open since June, and the past few weeks have brought the biggest look at the game yet. Here's a clear rundown of what's officially confirmed — and what isn't — so you can separate the facts from the noise.

Release Date: November 19, 2026

GTA VI was originally slated for fall 2025. In May 2025, Rockstar moved it to May 26, 2026, and in November 2025 it was delayed a second time, by roughly six more months, to November 19, 2026. Rockstar said the extra time was needed to finish the game with "the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

With the game now under two months out and pre-orders live, November 19 looks firm.

Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (No PC Yet)

GTA VI is launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There's no PS4 or Xbox One version.

There's also no PC version announced. That fits Rockstar's history — GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both arrived on PC well after their console launches — so PC players should expect a wait, though Rockstar hasn't said anything official either way.

Price and Editions

Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, for both digital and physical copies. Reported US pricing is:

  • Standard Edition: $79.99
  • Ultimate Edition: $99.99 — adds a collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and other in-game items
  • The Vice City Collection: a premium, limited-run collectible set

Pre-ordering any edition gets you the Vintage Vice City Pack, a bonus item set themed around the series' 1980s Vice City roots. Digital pre-orders are reported to be able to pre-load from November 12, a week before launch.

Quick fact: at $79.99, GTA VI's standard edition costs $10 more than the $69.99 most big console releases have launched at in recent years.

The Setting: Leonida and Vice City

GTA VI takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on modern-day Florida, centered on a reimagined Vice City (the series' version of Miami). Confirmed regions include:

  • Vice City
  • The Leonida Keys
  • Grassrivers (the game's version of the Everglades)
  • Port Gellhorn
  • Ambrosia
  • Mount Kalaga National Park

Rockstar has highlighted a dynamic weather system that includes hurricanes, along with wildlife and dense, reactive crowds.

The Story: Lucia and Jason

For the first time in a mainline GTA, there are two leads who work as a couple:

  • Lucia Caminos — grew up in Liberty City and has recently been released from prison
  • Jason Duval — a small-time operator with a history of drug running and grifting

Rockstar's official setup: after "an easy score goes wrong," the pair are pulled into "a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida." The trailers lean heavily into a Bonnie-and-Clyde dynamic, and you'll be able to switch between the two characters.

Trailers and the Extended Look

  • Trailer 1 dropped in December 2023, released a day early after it leaked online.
  • Trailer 2 followed in May 2025, focusing on the two protagonists and their relationship.
  • Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, before landing on YouTube the next day. It's the longest look at the game so far, with over 20 minutes of footage covering heists, car chases and side activities.

Most recently, Game Informer's issue 382, on sale since September 29, carries a 14-page cover story with new screenshots and interviews about Vice City and Leonida.

What We Still Don't Know

  • A PC release date (or confirmation that one is coming)
  • Full details of GTA Online's next generation, and how it ties into GTA VI
  • Exact file size and any PS5 Pro-specific enhancements
